It was a cake day at my place of work. A colleague had bought a box of layer cake from Penang and another had brought a home-made cheese cake. I suppose the layer cake is the popular Indonesian kue lapis legit; also known there as spekkoek. It is thought that the cake is a version of the European multi-layered spit cake and in Batavia; that is present day Jakarta; the wives of Dutch administrators during the Dutch occupation of Indonesia had had the cake for tea. We had had them during breaks from work in the morning.
Which is a cheese cake?
