Sravasti otherwise known as Savatthi is an ancient capital of the kingdom of Kosala. The ruler, King Pasernadi is a lay disciple of Buddha and the capital is thus famous for its long association with the Buddha's ministry. Today, besides ancient ruins from Buddha's time, contemporary Buddhist temples from different countries can be found here.
