Satay or sate, a dish consisting of diced or sliced meat in skewers made from the midrib of the coconut leaf, is popular in South East Asia. The meat is grilled or barbequed over a wood or charcoal fire and then served with various spicy seasonings. Preparing the dish, as you can see, could be a smoky affair.
