Julie Gold who wrote the song 'From a distance' believes in an immanent and beneficent God. The song which was originally sung by Nanci Griffith was made even more popular by Bette Midler. In the song, part of the lyrics read: 'God is watching us, God is watching us from a distance...' That probably brings a lot of joy!
