Mau Wei has been talking about going to Malacca to watch a musical and I suppose that's Impression Melaka, an outdoor show associated with acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou. Show aside, I remember going to Malacca not too long ago when we were seeing Yen Yen off to Ireland. Then, we had taken time off to enjoy a nyonya lunch. Now, we're talking about Peranakan or Nyonya cuisine here, a fusion created by early Chinese migrants who intermarried with Malays in days long gone. I remember Mau Wei asking for babi pongteh but there should be other dishes too like acar, otak-otak...
