Lick This!

Maybe you yearn to hold this in your hand. Yes, it'll be a delight indeed. When the white, creamy sugar on its surface glistens in the light, you may even lower your head and flick out your tongue automatically to lick it, tasting its sweetness and drowning in it. It will be then that you give in to your desire. You take a bite of it, this traditional Malay cake called Kuih tiram and when it starts to crumble in your mouth, you find satisfaction, as if you have just subdued a demon. Kuih tiram in English is oyster cake. It is also called Kuih lidah or Tongue cake, said to have been created by Bruneian Malay in Papar, Sabah, Malaysia.
