Yes, I like Chai Buey; leftovers, that is. Chai Buey is a dish common in Malaysian Chinese homes, especially after festivities such as Chinese New Year. During the reunion dinner in the eve of Chinese New year, there is always a lot of food to eat, more than everyone can eat for that matter. The leftover could be reheated the next day for consumption or else, all of them, roast pig, barbeque pork, duck, or chicken could be chucked into a big pot to be stewed with mustard green 芥菜, vegetables, and other edibles to make Chai Buey. A happy ending to the many dishes that otherwise would end as animal feed;or worse still, thrown away.
