It's Chap Goh Meh or fifteenth night, the last day of Chinese New Year. School will reopen on Monday and that's blessing in disguise. My nephew has obtained a special letter from the authorities for interstate travel to fetch his kids and has brought along salmon and some other ingredients for lo shang 撈生. Yusheng is traditionally served on renri 人日, the 7th day of Chinese New Year; but since the pandemic has prevented many homecoming, having the dish on Chap Goh Meh, while unusual; makes up the missed Chinese New Year celebration. Happy Chap Goh Meh world!
More Chap Goh Meh greetings..
