One of the best lunch I had had in Thailand surprisingly was the one in the little town of Phattalung. It was not in the town; perhaps in the suburbs. Our host had taken us to a wooden two-storeyed building with traditional Thai architecture and there were much greenery in its compound. Then, we were walking through a door into an air conditioned spacious room and the tables were already laid for lunch. We took our seat and in no time, hot piping food were served. There was the must have Thai item; Tom Yum soup besides many others; Thai-styled deep fried fish, Chinese style stir fried broccoli with prawns and I think there were traditional Thai dishes like banana blossom salad and ho mok thale, the latter being Thai steamed curry and it was served in a coconut! The Tom Yum soup probably wasn't the best I had had; but the atmosphere then; the buzzing enthusiastic holiday makers, chatting and taking photographs; the warm, polite staff and the gaily decorated food all made an otherwise normal lunch a feast to be remembered. After lunch, we were even treated to a free massage upstairs!
