Green and Yummy

There're green Huat Kueh on the kitchen table. Huat Kueh or in Mandarin fa gao 发糕 are Chinese steamed rice flour cake; a simple cake made of flour, water, sugar and leavener; very popular indeed and a must have item in traditional Chinese festivals. They are used as offerings during prayers to departed ancestors or Chinese Gods at home and in temples. These usually are either red or white and the present green ones are due to pandan leaves. Very yummy and aromatic!
