Saturday Special: Creamy Wheat Vermicelli

There was a pot of Misua 麵線 on the kitchen table this morning. The misua was a bit creamy which reminded of Misua Koh, the creamy wheat flour vermicelli soup which I remember having it, standing in a bustling street in Taiwan's Taipei. Misua, the very thin variety of salted wheat noodles from Fujian, China signifies long life in Chinese culture and is therefore served during birthday. Cooking misua is easy and usually takes two minutes or less in boiling water. Needless to say then, the noodle is popular and is easily available the whole year round, birthday or not. Maybe, it is only during birthdays that one is discouraged from chewing or cutting the noodles.
