Once, while on my way home from Penang, I remember my nephew detoured as we went for lunch in Lunas, a little multi-racial town 45 minutes from the island. The little town is well over a hundred years old, having been developed in the 1990s. There are many well-preserved pre-war shophouses here and there is even a precolonial-style mansion called Soon Cheng Sai mansion.
