Gỏi cuốn - That's Vietnamese spring roll, a dish believed to have originated from China. It traditionally has pork, prawn, vegetables, bún that's rice vermicelli, and other ingredients wrapped in Vietnamese bánh tráng or rice paper which could be bought ready made in shops in Vietnam. My first taste of Vietnamese spring roll however was not in Vietnam. It was in Dublin, Ireland. Yen Yen had brought Mau Wei, her sister and I over to a little Vietnamese shop in one of the little streets of Ireland's capital. She ordered the spring roll as a side dish. Still prefer the Chinese variety.
