It's not quite 端午节 duanwu jie yet. The Duanwu Festival or the Dragon Boat Festival is in June, just a few days more; but already in the kitchen, there was a pile of freshly made kee chang. The traditional alkaline dumplings consisting of sticky glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves into a pyramid-shaped yellow goodie can be filled with red bean paste but the ones at home are always plain. It would be nice to be able to dip one in palm sugar syrup but for now, some regular sugar will do!
