Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic and people were encouraged to stay home, some mornings we'd have home prepared noodle soup; noodles served in a broth. Noodle soup is rather common both in East and Southeast Asia and they come in many forms. When I add a spoonful of a chilli condiment to my simple noodle soup, and gave it a stir; lo, the noodle soup looked like the famous Penang Hae mee 虾面; xiāmiàn or prawn noodles; but of course, the soup was not at all flavoured with prawns. It was just fake prawn noodles!
