Still have room for rojak after lunch. Said to be an old food from ancient Java; the salad dish, known as rujak in its place of origin; comprises a mixture of sliced fruit and vegetables served with a spicy palm sugar dressing. Since then though, the dish had travelled all over Southeast Asia and had evolved into various forms. The one at home is a Penang variant; the dressing for the rojak being dark and thick and reeks of belacan. That's a fermented shrimp or prawn paste commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisines.
