Be Warned!

When in Thailand, I have always enjoyed every meal there; breakfast, lunch, dinner; you name it but then perhaps, there was an exception. There was a slight drizzle in Aonang beach, Krabi; and we had rushed across the road from where the sculpture of the swordfish was. The few shops there weren't very interesting and then a quaint restaurant hidden at the back of a row of shops caught our eyes. Someone suggested dinner even though it wasn't quite dark yet. We trudged upstairs to pick a vintage spot and proceeded to order some Thai favourites; Tom Yam soup and pineapple fried rice included. It was the worst Thai food we had had. The Tom Yam was bland and lacked the usual spicy oomp;  the fried rice looked as if it was forcefully stuffed into the pineapple and the meat, tofu and vegetables looked vulgar and amateurishly cut. Except for us, the restaurant then was devoid of other customers and our host were immigrant Indians. Now, in Thailand; when a restaurant is not well patronised, perhaps we need to make sure at least that it is the the locals who dish out the local food. Don't say you have not been warned!
