Mee Jawa Variants

Mee Jawa, I read
is Javanese influenced noodles. The name implies that, I suppose. Mee Jawa is said to have its origin in Central Java in Indonesia. The Javanese brought the dish over to Malaysia presumely in the 19th-century. Mee Jawa generally consists of yellow noodles, chicken, vegetables, egg and spices. In its place of origin, there are three major variants of mee Java, the wet soupy one, the dry one and the in-between, that is the not so wet and not so dry one. In Malaysia, the soupy one looks very much like mee rebus.Had the dry fried one with a cup of Korean tea on New Year Day. There were a few to choose from and I settled for Korean Ginseng tea.

Happy New Year, everyone!
