Prawn mee is widespread in Penang; I'm sure. The dish of noodles in stock made from prawn heads, shrimp and pork ribs is popularly known as Penang Hokkien Mee; but it certainly is as delicious as the hands that prepare it. On another trip to Penang, instead of the dissapointing char koey teow from Pemang Road, I had a packet Penang Hokkien Mee packed to go somewhere near Burmah Road. It was yet another disappointment. I remember having tasted better tasting Penang Hokkien Meee lsewhere in the island.
