Joy is doing dana!

Joy is doing dana!

Dana in Buddhism means generosity and is one of the perfections (parami) that Buddhists seek to cultivate. It can also mean giving, charity, and liberality. Doing dana therefore could means giving not just material things but also immaterial things to not just monks but other people as well. Every act of giving is an act of non-greed, non-hatred and non-delusion. Doing dana is therefore thea first step towards eliminating the defilement of greed, hatred and delusion.
