Kulim Laksa

When Swe Ling and I visited Mau Wei in her Simpang Ampat home in Penang the other day, she brought some food along; mi ku and a host of other food. I went empty-handed but was welcome with Kulim laksa; it seems that someone from the little town of Kulim in Kedah has open shop there, selling the local favourite. Laksa, a spicy noodle soup popular in Southeast Asia, consists of thick wheat noodles served in fish based soup which could be spicy and sourish too, the latter because of the sour tamarind used. The Kulim laksa served was a bit darkish compared with our homemade version which is rather reddish. Good news though - both were just as yummy!
Now, which do you think is from Kulim?
